Rustic Chay Lap - A new ecotourism destination

Update: 28/12/2010
Situated on a peanut and maize farm in central Quang Binh province, Rustic Chay Lap stands beneath the towering limestone cliffs which punctuate the beautiful but seldom visited World Natural Heritage site of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.

Take a tour offered by Huong Giang Travel (7 Le Hong Phong Str., Hue City; Tel: 054 3949596) to Chay Lap, you will have chance to experience a truly Vietnamese farming life as well as stunning nature. The buffalo taxi, so called the buffalo cart, will take you from the bus station to the village. Afterward, you can bike to Phong Nha Ke Bang National park. Hear the call of the wild and the roar of your hamstrings as you either take your time to get away from your big-city living. The sounds of primates bounce off the stunning limestone cliffs as the newly paved single lane road snakes through one of Vietnam’s most important conservation areas and most important historic trail during the war.

Pedalling around the national park to admire the fresh air and the biodiversity eco-system of Phong Nha Ke Bang Park, you will have chance to enjoy the forest life. Some of the rare and valuable wild animals in Red-book have been re-discoverred and preserved there such as: Ha Tinh langur, Leaf Monkey Trachypithecus hatinhensis, Macaques, Mountain hockey bird…

Quang Binh, the province housing Chay Lap and the park, is one of the country’s most impoverished region but by the new tourism plan, the region will be supported with conservation of the important World Natural Heritage site as well as creating employment opportunities and income for local people.
