Vietnam, RoK cooperate on sea pollution control

Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) will work together to control sea pollution, focusing on oil spill prevention.
An agreement to this effect was signed by Deputy Head of the Vietnam Sea and Island General Department Nguyen Van Cu and Director of RoK Maritime Pollution Division Lee Wan Sub in Hanoi on Dec. 8, 2008.
Under the agreement, the two sides will share information and experience in oil spill and oil pollution supervision and cooperate to increase the capacity of preventive system.
Established in March 2008, the General Department of Sea and Island under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is Vietnam’s first state-run agency in charge of sea and island management.
