Developing ecotourism in Dong Thap

In the recent years, Dong Thap province has paid attention to effectively exploit tourism potentials such as eco-tourism, cultural tourism aiming to satisfy the demand of tourists.

Developing ecotourism will help to promote economic restructuring and local community life improvement.

Being a famous destination with many beautiful attractions like Tram Chim National Park, Sa Dec relic site, An Hoa beach, fairy hillock, over 44 craft villages, traditional festivals and local special foods, the province is planning to attract more and more visitors from both domestic and foreign markets.

Thanks to the above advantages, Dong Thap economy achieved positive results which create many chances not only to develop other industries but also to promote the image of local traditional culture within the country and abroad.

In 2010, Dong Thap welcomed 1.1 million tourists, including 21,000 oversea arrivals with total revenue of VND 118 billions.

The province is focusing on developing 19 tourist sites including 5 key sites which will be prioritized for infrastructure investment.

In the coming time, the Dong Thap Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will upgrade infrastructure system connecting tourism spots, widen the road to Xeo Quyt, Go Thap tourist sites, Gao Giong eco-tourist site, Sa Dec flower village, Tram Chim National Park, raise tourism product and service quality... aiming to attract more than 2 million arrivals including 47,000 int'l tourists, with total turnover of VND360 billions by 2015.
