Green resort opens on Silkworm Island

Update: 02/02/2009
A new resort relying on solar and wind power, natural gas and collected rainwater, will open during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays on Hon Tam (Silkworm) Island in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province.
The Hon Tam Resort and Spa, which will open on Jan.28, 2009 claims to be one of Vietnam’s most authentic environmentally sustainable resorts and aims to be another unforgettable destination at Nha Trang.

The resort comprises 49 bungalows nestled amidst a lush rainforest, and a four-star hotel with 224 rooms that will open in 2010 and a recreation centre.

This is a USD 44 million project of the Hon Tam - Bien Nha Trang Joint Stock Co.

The company’s management says littering of waste is banned across the island and all types of wastes are carried to the mainland for treatment.

The resort also encourages recycling of all materials on the island as part of its commitment to protect tropical rain forests and surrounding cliffs.

Located south of Nha Trang Bay, 5 km from the shore, Hon Tam Island is an appealing coastal ecotourism site with tropical evergreen forests and white beaches.

It is an ideal destination for people wanting a romantic getaway, a honeymoon, an adventure or idyllic wedding setting.
