Update: 01/02/2012
Gau Tao – a spring festival of H’Mong ethnic minority people – is a cultural event attracting a large number of visitors.

Together with other hamlets in northern mountainous areas, H’Mong ethnic minority people in Ta Giang Phinh village, Sapa district, Lao Cai province have held the Gau Tao festival to pray for good fortune and welcome the New Year.

Since early morning, thousands of people wearing colourful costumes from neighbouring villages flocked to Ta Giang Phinh to attend the opening of the Gau Tao festival.

After a ceremony, festival goers were entertained by ethnic singing and dancing as well as other traditional games and sports, such as blind-man’s buff, pushing cane, tug of war, mountain climb, and ferris wheel.
