From Mui Ne to Tien Thanh, a system of resorts mushrooming in close proximity to one another along the beaches creates animation in Phan Thiet. Behind the resorts, there is calm, sometimes fishing villages’ animation existing for hundreds of years.
Like the life rhythms of the high-end resorts along the beaches in Phan Thiet city, people’s daily work in Mui Ne coastal region is fishermen’s labor sound in the fishing village. A new day in the fishing villages is very animated. On the seaside, buyers wait for landfall of boats and junks. In the seawater, rowers with wet clothes hurry to take coracles to the ashore. After each fishing trip, their boats and junks are anchored from afar. Coracles are the most effective means to transport seafood from boats to the ashore. Therefore, each boat has 1 – 3 coracles to do like that. Previously, trade took place at the beaches. Currently, thanks to information technology, prices are exchanged on cell phones after fishermen get a catch of fish offshore. Along Mui Ne beach, trade seems to dispel early morning dew. Such is life for a new day in the coastal region. It has repeated during hundreds of years. Types of seafood are always fresh. So, people call “ca luoi”. Inshore fisheries in Mui Ne last only a day. They often start at nightfall and ends at dawn. Fishing time depends on tide and season. Despite the short time, their income are temporarily stable (if a lot of fish, about VND 500,000 – 600,000 per day), especially the high fuel price.
As for fishing villages, Binh Thuan province has many tranquil and picturesque fishing villages being scattered from La Gi town to Tuy Phong district. However, we can’t forget the fishing villages in Ham Tien – Mui Ne (Phan Thiet city). Fishermen here both catch fish and take visitors on boat. This is an unique feature in Ham tien – Mui Ne fishing villages because their most seafood is sold to tourists. Besides, fresh seafood is processed.
Mui Ne fishing villages not only is tranquil and attractive but also has animation of coastal life. If, in the early morning, the sea is calm with hundreds of boats under the dark blue sky, it glistens silvery light with a rustic feature of each boat at sunset. Phan Thiet tourist city is famous for long-standing fishing. Therefore, visitors are keen on learning about fish village, making fish sauce and processing seafood.
