Together with economic development, Binh Duong now faces challenges in environmental protection. Hence, environmental protection is seen as the top concern that needs to be solved in the province’s environmental protection plan between 2011 and 2015. Community plays an important role in environmental protection.

Vo Thi Ngoc Hanh, deputy director of provincial Department of Environment and Natural Resources said that the local authorities at all levels need to take measures in a synchronous way to have a clean and beautiful environment at requirements for the local sustainable development.
Over the past years, provincial Women’s Union organized a writing contest on “Initiative on environmental protection and management, use of land” with 10,500 entries from officials and members.
Provincial Women’s Union and its affiliates also launched the campaign of building “5 no, 3 clean” families, which was concretized by 2 clubs of “5 no, 3 clean” families and 40 female groups of “self-management in environmental protection”, 2 clubs of “Women take part in environmental protection”…
Meanwhile, provincial Youth Union also sped up propaganda activities to raise public awareness of environmental protection by organizing training courses on the Law on Environmental Protection, rural environmental management; implementing the models of “voluntary Saturday”, “green Sunday”…
Thanks to the propaganda work boosted, province-based residential areas have actively taken part in environmental protection. The whole province now has 14 “self-management groups on environmental protection” with 150 members per group…These groups have always attached special important to the propaganda work on environmental protection. Upon this, 100% households in quarters have so far signed pledges on environmental protection.

With achievements done, the province has actively sped up the propaganda work on environment to raise public awareness of environmental protection; promoted exchange visits and shared experiences in the field of environmental protection; strengthened community-level mechanism and policies…
Possibly speaking, people play an important role in environmental protection. Binh Duong has also upheld the role of people in environmental protection, contributing to the national industrialization and modernization cause and the local sustainable development.
