Keeping Da Nang’s beaches clean

Update: 17/04/2012
Da Nang is renowned for its beautiful beaches which have great potential for tourism development.

From April to August, the city will welcome up to seven thousand tourists every day, with over  ten thousand during festivals. However, the city’s beaches are polluted with residential and industrial waste and the litter left behind by visitors.

The city authorities have taken strong measures to protect beach environment.  Relevant agencies have been directed to improve their coordination for this protection with strictly enforced penalties for those polluting. Many publicity activities are being held such as the “Clean and Green Sunday” campaign, pilot programs for garbage classification, installing more bins and stopping wandering vendors. Workers from urban environment companies will clean up the beaches 24/7.

The awareness of environmental protection by seaside service providers and hotel owners and the people living by the beaches should be raised because they benefit from their waterside locations.
