Hanoi plans to team up with a Republic of Korea company in managing and protecting the environment for a five-year period. A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed in Hanoi on March 13 by Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vu Hong Khanh, and Chairman of the RoK Environment Management Corporation Yang Yong Woon.
Cooperation will focus on managing the quality and distribution of water resources, waste water treatment and water drainage systems, in addition to helping improve air quality, managing hazardous waste and discarding and recycling urban rubbish, and developing clean and replaceable energy.
It will also cover information exchange in areas of mutual concern, as well as experiences regarding environmental management and protection, organizing fact-finding tours and training courses in Vietnam and the RoK, and technical assistance and expertise.
