Da Nang hosts Green Growth in the Mekong Sub-region workshop

The Green Growth in the Mekong Sub-region workshop has been held in Da Nang. Chairpersons of Social Sciences Institutes in Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia and South Korea attended. Ways to develop a green economy in the Mekong River Basin to ensure sustainable regional development was the main agenda item.

Organized by the Korean Environment Institute (KEI), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Viet Nam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), the event featured discussions about the development of clean industries; changing investment structures; biodiversity; implementing green economy policy practices and initiatives; and raising awareness of environmental protection in businesses.

The president of VASS, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, stressed the need for upgrading infrastructure and applying effective management to meet the increasing demand for food, energy and water in the region.
