Da Nang to host Clean up the World campaign

Update: 13/09/2012
A national ceremony will be held from September 14-16 in Da Nang to respond to the international campaign “Clean up the World.”

The global campaign, initiated by Australia in 1993, inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve their environment.

Held in partnership with the United Nations Environment Program, it mobilizes an estimated 35 million people across 130 countries and territories each year, in the third week of September.

In Da Nang, various activities will take place, including exhibitions of photos and paintings about catastrophes and ocean pollution, contests on recycled products, exchanges of wastes for gifts, exchanges of experiences of environment protection models, along with seminars on renewable energy and tree planting ceremonies…

Viet Nam has responded to the campaign since 1994 with activities having held in Binh Dinh, Quang Nam, Quang Ninh, Vinh Long, Phu Yen, Binh Duong, Ha Nam, Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City and others.

The 2012 campaign’s theme is “Our Place… Our Planet… Our Responsibility”. Response activities include planting trees, cleaning parks or beaches, conserving water, and communication programs to raise public awareness on environmental protection.
