Charity tourism is becoming more popular and is drawing much attention from the community before the Tet festival.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Da Nang’s prestigious travel agents, including Vietravel, Viet Da and Danatours, are launching diversified tours to attract more clients.
The Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Joint Stock Company (Danatours), Mr Vo Minh Trung, said that the main purpose of this type of tour is to do charity work, therefore the price is much lower than that of other tours.
As well as visiting and presenting gifts to ethnic minorities living in remote, mountainous areas, clients can relax and enjoy a few days before the Tet holiday.
Many young people and volunteer groups are interested in organising their own trips at the year-end, and do charity work in combination with relaxing and relieving stress. Last December, the Bup Sen Hong (Pink Lotus) group from Da Nang went to Quang Nam Province’s Nam Giang Mountainous District to implement their charity programme which has “Winter Warmth” as its theme. They provided free health check-ups and medicinces for local poor ethnic minority people, and gave warm clothing to local poor children.
The city’s travel agents expect that there will be a significant increase in the number of charity tourism programmes before Tet. This is therefore a good opportunity for them to offer diverisfied tours to attract more clients.
Mr Trung said that this type of tourism would further make considerable contributions to the local tourism sector’s budget, as well as to poverty reduction, environmental protection, and nature conservation. In addition, it will help to make travellers happy and healthy!
