Vietnam plans to weather natural disasters

Update: 15/04/2009
Vietnam plans to develop a nationwide satellite-based information network in a bid to cope with natural disasters and minimise possible losses in lives and property caused by them. According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the network will be set up before June 30 by the Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group (VNPT).

The VNPT and the Central Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Centre will work together on the use of satellite VINASAT-1 for collecting and transmitting data on hydro-meteorological and climatic phenomena for relevant agencies to issue prompt and timely disaster forecast.

According to the Central Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting Centre, this rainy season will see many dangerous weather patterns with complex and unexpected developments.
