Residents of the capital city will be able to exchange nylon bags for li xi (lucky money) envelopes made from recycled materials next week.
On the 23rd day of the last lunar month, the Kitchen God is worshipped and it is lucky for people to transport live fish in nylon bags and release them into lakes and rivers.
Next week's initiative is designed to stop the wastage of these bags once they have been used and is part of a wider environmental protection event that aims to raise public awareness. It will be held in Ha Noi's Giang Vo Lake on February 3.
The "Ca xanh" (Green fish event) is being organised by Go Green club in collaboration with Toyota Viet Nam, the National Environment Agency and the Ministry of Education and Training.
