Tien Giang to improve tourist infrastructure for Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve

Established in 1999, Ecological Reserve of Dong Thap Muoi (Thanh Tan Commune, Tan Phuoc District) has been a potential destination for visitors. This year, the provincial authority is about to fund over VND 6 billion to turn the Reserve into a leading tourist spot of the local area. The financial source will be used for asphalting roads, building new wharf, waiting houses...

Covering an area of 100 hectares (40ha of primeval indigo forest, 40ha of water surface...), Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve has, so far, completed such infrastructre items as: surrounding canals, one-hectare bird sanctuary, guard stations, flood-blocking drains, 4-km internal roads, storehouse for birdfeed, fresh-water well, electricity system... Furthermore, faunna and floral system has been enriched by thousands of various native trees, fishes, turtles, birds and primitive creatures...
