Developing community-based tourism model in the inland districts

The Quang Nam Province People's Committee and International Organization International Labour Organisation (ILO) have just organized a seminar on "Strengthening the tourism activities in the inland districts".

This was an activity of the “Strengthening the tourism activities in the inland districts” project funded by Luxembourg Government. The project has been implemented by the Quang Nam province and ILO since 2011.

During the seminar, all tourism experts from ILO, the project coordinators, households participating in the community tourism model, tourist guides and local communities in the project area have shared many experiences in developing a community-based tourism model, the way to approach based on community to fully exploit the potential value of tangible and intangible culture to serve the needs of diversified and sustainable tourism development. The seminar also discussed the tourism development with the destinations, cultural and natural spots, traditional villages...

According to the delegates, the above project has been successful in introducing and building a new approach to develop community-based tourism model. It helps to reduce the poverty by creating sustainable jobs for local people in the project areas. The model is highly valued by the local communities and has been replicated in Quang Nam province.
