Students join environmental protection activity

Update: 08/08/2013
Over 30 students from HCMC universities volunteered to be environmental ambassadors for the second Chung uoc mo xanh (sharing green dream) program this year which took place last Sunday in the city.

The program is annually organized by Thai-based SCG Group and Muc Tim newspaper to raise students’ awareness on environmental protection, energy and water saving.

According to Nguyen Duc Cuong, editor-in-chief of Muc Tim, youth is the key factor to a country’s development and that it is important to educate the youth on the concept of “environmentally friendly” issues while they are at school to help build their awareness on environmental protection for the sustainable
development of Vietnam.

With the theme Nang Luong Xanh (green power), the program began its search for suitable ambassadors last month. The 30 selected volunteers are readers of the newspaper and are enthusiasts who care passionately about the environment.

The students will gain knowledge as well as share their ideas on green energy and the importance of the environment to mankind, and learn about sustainable development through numerous training courses and sightseeing tours from August to December.
