Vietnam to host leading international renewable energy exhibition

Update: 08/05/2009
Some 100 agencies, including leading companies from Europe and Asia, and some 3,500 participants are expected to join the international exhibition for renewable and decentralized energy solutions in Vietnam (ENEREXPO 2010), which will be held from 17-19 March 2010, the National Center for Scientific and Technological Information announced on May 7.

According to the organizing committee, some 150 stalls in the exhibition will show off technologies, equipment and solutions on solar and wind energy, hydroelectricity, biological and geothermic energy, the transferal and the transmission of renewable and decentralized energy, as well as industries to provide engines and technical equipment and components.

This first ENEREXPO is good opportunity for renewable energy businesses to seek investment opportunities. According to Vietnamese experts, Vietnam has great potential in developing renewable energy, with numerous rivers and streams, and strong wind power between 500-1,410 kWh per square meter per year. Moreover, Vietnam’s demand for energy increases by 17% per year, and it is in great need for renewable and decentralized energy, especially for rural areas.

The Government of Vietnam, for the long-term period, aims to invest in renewable energy so that it can provide electricity for 750,000 families, satisfy 5% of the country’s demand for energy by 2020, and produce wind energy from 0.2MW to 400 NW.

The Government also set a target to install 150,000 biogas trenches to take advantage of decentralized energy resources, and build 16 hydroelectric plants.

By 2020, the country is expected to see geothermic energy production of 400NW.

The exhibition will be held every two years.
