Fostering the sprouts singing folk songs in Dong Hoa district

At the provincial musical performances and competitions, the audience can easily recognize the very deep and sweet voices from Dong Hoa district, which is highly assessed as far as the musical movement is concerned. This is not only thanks to the fact that the cadres working in the culture sector have paid considerable attention in discovering and fostering those talented in singing, particularly the young ones.

Recently, at the artistic performing competition within the 8th Festival of culture-sports-tourism for peoples, Phu Yen 2013, Dong Hoa district performed 5 folk items directed as to the content of joining hands to construct the new rural areas, and the performances are based on the very distinctive ditty sung while working, attracting a great audience. The young singers with professional voices and stage skills satisfied the audience.

According to Mrs. Vo Thi The, deputy head of Dong Hoa district’s division of culture-sports-tourism, every two years, Dong Hoa district’s people’s committee holds the public singing contest for cultural hamlets. Accordingly, 50 ham lets of 10 communes and town let of the district establish their own musical team and from the schools’ musical contests in the district, the cadres working in the sector of culture discover the musical nucleus form this source. Therefore, Dong Hoa district always has talented individuals who are students, farmers, old people, all diversified in ages and singing competence, to serve the unions, collectives when time comes to join in the public musical events in the district.

In 2007, with the spirit of the central 5, term VIII Resolution on constructing and developing Vietnam culture-progressive and rich in peoples’ features, Dong Hoa district established the club of singing folksong with artist Binh Thang being the chairman, the club attracted lots of those with great passion in singing folk songs. Not only that, artist Binh Thang is also determined in introducing folk music to schools. So far, the pupils of the high schools of Nguyen Van Linh, Nguyen Cong Tru, Le Trung Kien, the secondary schools of Luong Tan Thinh, Tran Hung Dao in Dong Hoa district have got access to folk music, and this is thanks to the zeal of artist Binh Thang.

Being fostered in the folk music environment, lots of young talented singers in Dong Hoa district have been discovered to join in the public performing festivals, like the young singers Truc Linh, Truc Lai, Bich Thuy, Ai Phi, Gia Han, Ngoc Kinh, Hoai Bao…”I have a strong confidence in this staff of young singers who will well participate in the musical movements held in either at district level or provincial level. However, to create favorable conditions fot these signers to develop their capabilities, it does require the care, financial support from the province’s department of culture-sports-tourism”, Mrs. Vo Thi The added.
