The Ha Long bay International Marathon 2013 and the first Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange 2013 will take place at Bai Chay Tourism Area in Ha Long city on October 27.
The event is organized by the Quang Ninh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Sao Bac International Construction, Tourism Ltd., Co.
ATRAVEL International Cooperation and Trading Joint Stock Company, and Ha Long Bay Marathon Organization Committee, which is a member of the Japanese Marathon Association. This is one of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Quang Ninh province and the 40th anniversary of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations (1973-2013).
The Ha Long bay Marathon will offer a 42.195km, 21.5km, 10km and 5km events for professionals and 2km category for amateur runners.
According to the organizing board, nearly 200 male and female athletes from countries and territories such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the UK, Canada and China, and nearly 100 domestic athletes have registered for the longer distance events, and nearly 1,000 student athletes in Quang Ninh province registered for the 2km event.
Especially, the opening program has exchanges, art performances of the Japanese art delegation and Quang Ninh Cai Luong (Reformed) art delegation.
The event will be broadcast live by Quang Ninh Radio and Television Station.
