Over VND105 billion for preservation of Tu Duc tomb

Chairman of Thua Thien – Hue provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao has approved a project on the preservation the imperial tomb of king Tu Duc with an investment of more than VND105 billion.

The information was released by the Office of Thua Thien – Hue provincial People’s Committee on November 17th.

The project will be carried out in five years, from the capital of the central budget and other resources.

Earlier, in late 2013, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center completed a project on the prservation of three works in Tu Duc tomb with an investment of more than VND26 billion.<

King Tu Duc’s tomb, built in 1864, is a typical example of traditional Hue architecture. It was recognised by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site.

The tomb was constructed on an area of about 12 hectares in Xuan Thuy precinct, Hue ancient city. This is one of the most beautiful works of royal architecture in the Nguyen dynasty. Passing war and time, the cultural heritage site with the majority of wooden works has been seriously damaged./.
