The 7th Danang International Fireworks Competition 2015 will take place in the central coastal city of Danang on April 28-29, Vietnam News Agency reports, citing the city government announcing at a news briefing last week.
The “Danang – a symphony of colors” competition will feature performances by five teams from the United States, South Africa, Australia, Poland and the host Vietnam on the Han River in the city. These competitors have won many awards at other international fireworks competitions.
Many activities will be held besides the firework competition, including a food festival, a fashion show, flower boat parades, beach sports and decorative lighting.
The organizers will advertise the Danang International Fireworks Competition international channels such as StarWorld, National Geographic and BBC Asia in the hope of introducing Danang City in particularly and Vietnam in general to the world.
The government of Danang City has also approved a plan to build a stadium able to accommodate up to 32,000 spectators for the firework display.
The city government has inked deals with 41 companies which agreed to fund a total of VND26 billion (more than US$1.2 million) for the firework competition.
The sponsors include Sun Group, which pledged to fund VND3 billion, followed by Net Viet Technology & Media Joint Stock Company with VND2.5 billion and Danang-Mien Trung Investment Joint Stock Company with VND2 billion.
Launched in 2008, Danang is the only city in Vietnam to host such a firework competition.
