The East Asian Seas Congress 2015 will be held in Vietnam

Update: 20/03/2015
The East Asian Seas Congress is held by the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) every 3 years in the country partner. This year, Vietnam will host the 5th Congress in Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province.

It is expected that the 5th East Asian Seas Congress takes place from 15th to 21st November 2015. There are about 850 delegates from over 30 countries and environmental organizations that will participate. The theme of the 5th East Asian Seas Congress is defined as: “Global Targets – Local Benefits: Setting the Sustainable Development Agenda for the Seas of East Asia beyond 2015”.

This is a good opportunity for Vietnam to strengthen her role in the international community on issues related to maritime strategy; to promote the issuance of policies and the specific actions in order to develop the marine and coastal area of the country sustainably. Thereby, the image of the sea and the country and people of Vietnam is promoted to the international community; moreover, the hosting province may gain real benefits.
