Green House Gas reduction in building

On the 15/1 in Ho Chi Minh city, the Ministry of Natural Resouces and Environment of Vietnam and the UNEP jointly organized the second national workshop on the development of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) in buildings.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Hieu, Vice Director of the Department of Meteo-hydrology and Climate Change (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam) said that GHG emission from buildings is receiving more attention from countries in the world, including Vietnam. Efficient energy use, appropriate policies and advanced technology application will be critical solutions to promote sustainable development and GHG emission reductions in buildings.

Over the past time, the UNEP has been closedly cooperated with the Department of Meteohydrology and Climate Change in developing national report on evaluation of policies in energy use and buildings; providing training on Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) in order to formulate GHG mitigation in buildings, and they are finalizing an evaluation report on potential GHG emission reduction in this sector.
