€ 8.8 million mobilized to protect Mekong Delta mangrove forest

The Prime Minister has recently approved the project “Integrated Coastal Management and Mangrove Forest Protection for Climate Change Adaptation in Mekong Delta (ICMP) - Phase 2”. The project mobilizes the ODA funding of Governments of Germany and Australia.

The project shall be implemented in up to 3-year (2015-2018) with its total cost of € 8.8 million. The project aims to strengthen institutional and planning capacity to develop the Mekong Delta in adaptation to climate change (CC). Accordingly, the project will establish a legal and institutional framework for developing the solutions to adapt to CC and green growth; strengthen technical capacity for the agencies related to developing and funding for likelihood solutions, coastal integrated management, and CC adaptation; improve and establish the cooperation mechanism and partnership; build the approaches to harmonize with coastal ecosystems, towards green growth and adaption to CC in this region.
