Binh Duong to build wastewater plant

Update: 07/01/2015
A wastewater treatment station will be built in the southern province of Binh Duong in a bid to improve local water quality.

A document to implement the project was signed yesterday between the Binh Duong Water Supply and Environment Co. Ltd (BIWASE) and a Japanese contractor.

The plant, which will have a daily capacity of 17,000 cu.m, will be constructed as part of the second phase of a JICA-funded project to improve water quality.

The second phase of the project, with total investment of nearly VND6.4 trillion ($304.7 million), includes a 350km long sewer system to collect wastewater from Thuan An and a number of wards in Thu Dau Mot.

Domestic wastewater taken from residential areas will be treated at the facility to protect public health and water resources in the Sai Gon-Dong Nai River basin before it is discharged into the environment.
