Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reported that Viet Nam has attracted more than 30 international funded projects specializing in environmental field with a total cost of up to USD 755 million in the period 2011-2015. The support is not only at the national level but also at local level.
In the period 2011-2015, there have been significant strides in raising support funds or loan fund from other countries or international organization for the environmental protection in Viet Nam. The raised fund has made the major contribution to the investment in environment treatment plant mainly located in the localities such as collected solid waste landfills, wastewater treatment plants, medical waste incinerator… In the period of 2009-2015, ODA fund spent on environment-relating project reaches approximately 3,739 million USD, in which the loan fund is 3,514 million USD and the nonrefundable assistance is 225 million USD.
According to the evaluation made, international cooperation is one of the important tasks to contribute to the environmental protection activities in Viet Nam. Viet Nam has continued actively participated in 20 international treaties of environment.
Thanks to this, VietNam enlists the international support for the implementation of programs and projects on environmental protection. Many large programs and projects on environmental protection have been implemented in co-ordination with the major counterparts such as Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden,… and funded by the international donors such as UNDP, UNEP, WB, GEF, ADB, GIZ, JICA...
