Eco-sites in southern Vinh Long province attracted more than 3,000 visitors on December 12, 2015 and January 1, 2016.
Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said her family often spends holidays on green tourism to enjoy fresh air, tranquil surroundings and communal activities.
Phan Thanh Tuyen, a Vietnamese expat in the US who went back home for the New Year’s vacation, pointed to her two sons’ excitement of fish catching, boat trips and candied coconut making.
Currently, Vinh Long has 20 gardens serving community-based eco-tours.
In 2015, the province welcomed 960,000 tourists with tourism revenue increasing 5 percent against the previous year.
