This is the goal that Da Nang City and Yokohama City (Japan) are striving to, which is specified in the Memorandum of Understanding signed on March 23rd on Technical Cooperation in the 2016-2019 period.
According to the memorandum, in this period, Da Nang City and Yokohama will focus on promoting cooperative activities to help Da Nang build ecological city, exchange professional experience and knowledge on the development of environmentally friendly city, mainly in the field of environment and urban development. Specifically, the two parties will mobilize the support of the two governments and international organizations to seek appropriate support to implement technical cooperation; actively call for investment by private enterprises in both cities.
Accordingly, Yokohama will support Da Nang to develop environmentally friendly industrial zones. In addition, both sides encourage the participation of the private sector and scientific organizations with professional experience and knowledge on the development of environmentally friendly cities in order to achieve the outlined objectives; exchange information to promote multifaceted relations.
Tetsuya Nakajima, Director of international technical cooperation, the International Cooperation Department of Yokohama citysaid, to implement the above objectives, over more than a year of research, the suggested programs and specific projects are to accelerate and deploy projects the on environmental improvement; sea port system development in Da Nang. Simultaneously develope public transport network, strengthen disaster prevention capability and renovate existing urban centers. In the upcoming time, Yokohama will pilot the equipment for emissions reduction and energy-saving in Da Nang.
