Award Ceremony of ASEAN Green Hotel and ASEAN Homestay

(TITC) - In the framework of conference on building Viet Nam tourism’s brand development strategy until 2025, vision to 2030, on April 16th, 2016, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) held a ceremony to award ASEAN Green Hotel and ASEAN Homestay.

 

10 hotels receiving ASEAN Green Hotel Award

 

ASEAN Green Hotel standard was built by ASEAN member states since 2006 and announced in Thailand in 2008 and Brunei in 2012. Each ASEAN member state may nominate up to ten hotels to honor this ASEAN Green Hotel Award every year.

 

ASEAN Homestay standard was built by ASEAN member states since 2011 and announced in 2012. There are five ASEAN homestay groups awarded every year, including five homestays of each member state for one group.

 

10 hotels receiving ASEAN Green Hotel Award include: Ben Thanh – Rex, Chains Caravelle, Cuu Long – Majestic, Dong Khoi – Grand; Intercontinental Hanoi Westlake, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Sheraton Saigon, Equatorial Ho Chi Minh City, Sunrise Nha Trang and Hoang Anh Dat Xanh Dalat Resort.

 

This is the first year Viet Nam has 3 ASEAN Homestays awarded including Homestay groups awarded in Bac Ha District, Lao Cai Province; community based-tourism site in Lac Hamlet, Mai Chau District, Hoa Binh Province and An Bang Seaside Village Homestay, Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province.

 

For his part, Deputy General Director of VNAT Ha Van Sieu emphasized the value of green - an important factor of sustainable development and a value to build tourism brand. He highly appriciated the contributions, innovations, experiences and environmental friendly solutions of tourist accommodations which were awarded. He hoped that the award will inspire a new movement for accomodation owners in Viet Nam to improve their standard and competitiveness capacity.
