The Hue City (Thua Thien Hue Province) has honorably selected as one of 46 cities participating in the campaign “Green city we love”
Accordingly, the campaign will be launched from April 26 to June 19, 2016 with the voting participation of all people around the world for their favorite cities. They also can share the photos and videos through Twitter and Instagram as well as recommend solutions to help their cities become more green-clean-beautiful. The campaign aims to create an online playground to connect residents with leaders of the city so that they can construct a city which is able to cope with climate change.
The “Green city we love” campaign is an initiative of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), calling cities for actions towards a sustainable future. The 46 cities this year were sorted out from 126 cities of 20 countries around the world. This is also the first participation of Viet Nam.
As planned, the voting result will be announced on June 22, 2016.
Previously, with the support of WWF-Viet Nam, Hue has been implementing low-carbon emissions activities towards sustainable and green economy in the 2012-2020 period. Accordingly, the city has expanded tree growing area; boosted green ecotourism that focusing on renewable energy application and garden-house visiting services; improved waste treatment system; encouraged using unburning material and installing smart public lighting system.
