Da Nang: Tourism sector gains positive results over first half

Update: 20/07/2016
Between January and June, Da Nang welcomed 2,474,991 visitors from both home and abroad, up 11.1% against the same period last year and fulfilling 48.2% of the year’s target.

Of this figure, the number of international visitors climbed 29.7% to 795,646, but the domestic visitor number rose by only 4% to 1,679,345.

Air passenger arrivals increased 21.2% to 325,140, whilst 42,100 passengers arrived on 41 cruise ships, which is 2.5 times higher than in the same period last year.

Most notably, the city’s total tourism revenue increased 15.5% to over 7,177 billion VND, representing 48.1 % of the target.

To date, 76 tourism projects have been implemented in the city, with a total investment capital of 12.02 billion USD, and 17 of them, totalling 1.18 billion USD, have been developed by foreign investors.

According to the city’s Department of Tourism, 5,000 copies of the city’s code of conduct for the local tourism sector, printed in Chinese, are expected to be issued this weekend. These copies will be distributed to Chinese tourists arriving at the city’s international airport, local tourist attractions, and hotels.

The Chinese version of the code features many friendly and well-designed illustrations, briefing the Chinese tourists on do’s and dont’s during their stay in the city.

According to the code, Chinese tourists are asked to respect the city’s customs and habits, wear appropriate attire when visiting local sanctuaries, leave their rubbish in regulated places, queue up when accessing public services, help the elderly, the disabled, women and children, do not destroy historical relics and do not spit, scream or speak too loudly in public places.

Following the issuance of its Chinese version, the code will then be translated into South Korean in the near future.
