The press conference on the promotion of the National Tourism Year, “Visit Viet Nam Year 2017: Lao Cai – Northwest” took place on 16 September in Lao Cai Province.
In this conference, Lao Cai People’s Committee has also announced an array of political, cultural and tourism events on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of re-establishing the province (01/10/1991 – 01/10/2016), as well as the 8th Day of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Northwest for ethnic groups in the extended Northwest region in Lao Cai.
With the theme “The colors of Northwest”, “Visit Viet Nam Year 2017: Lao Cai – Northwest” will feature a great variety of activities with the participating of 8 Northwest provinces, including Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Ha Giang; as well as supporting cities and provinces, including Ha Noi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa, HCM City, Kien Giang and Can Tho.
Accordingly, the opening ceremony and announcement ceremony of “Visit Viet Nam Year 2017: Lao Cai – Northwest” will be kicked off on 15th of Lunar January next year. The closing ceremony of 2017’s national tourism year will take place on Nov or Dec 2017.
Major events of “Visit Viet Nam Year 2017: Lao Cai – Northwest” include: National Television Festival in Lao Cai; Day of Culture, Sports and Tourism for four countries Viet Nam, China, Lao and Cambodia; Festival of Viet Nam’s typical community tourism villages in Hoa Binh; Cooking Competition “The Golden Spoon – The taste of Northwest” in Lao Cai etc. People’s Committees of Northwest provinces, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with related committees, ministries, sectors and agencies, will organize these activities and events, hoping that a successful “Visit Viet Nam Year 2017: Lao Cai – Northwest” will make a significant contribution to the tourism development of the region.
