Among thousands of conifer trees in the centre, those recognised as heritage trees have a diameter of 4-5 metres, height of 50-70 metres and are about 100 years old. They were recognised for their scientific and economic value and their influence on the cultural and religious life of ethnic people in border areas.
In the certificate granting event, the Việt Nam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment asked Pù Hoạt Nature Conservation Centre and relevant agencies to care for and protect the trees.
Lying in the western Nghệ An Biosphere Reserves, Pù Hoạt centre has thousands of rare and valuable animals and trees.
Vietnamese conifer trees are famous for their soft, durable scented wood and are a genus of one or two species of evergreen coniferous trees of the cypress family. They are native to northern Viet Nam, China, Taiwan and Laos.
