The Son Tra Peninsula in the central coastal city of Da Nang has received the approval of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to become a national tourism area before 2025.
Son Tra Peninsula
The Son Tra National Tourism Area is located on Son Tra Peninsula, Tho Quang Precinct, Son Tra District, Da Nang, around 10km from the city centre. The tourism site is planned to cover 1,056 hectares, accounting for one fourth of Son Tra District’s area.
Three service centres will be built in three gateways of the Son Tra Peninsula, while areas serving ecotourism, entertainment, sports and sight-seeing will be developed, including a flower and herbal park, a wildlife rescue centre, a safari park, a camping area and sight-seeing points.
Da Nang aims to develop Son Tra National Tourism Area based on the reasonable exploitation of sea and forest resources, with priority on ecotourism, sports, resorts and cultural/spiritual tourism, boosting the growth of other service sectors.
By 2025, the tourist attraction is expected to be visited by about 3.5 million tourists a year, grossing a revenue of about VND1.9 trillion, and the figure will reach 4.6 million by 2030, earning a turnover of about VND4.3 trillion.
As a national tourism area, Son Tra will contribute to creating more than 2,800 jobs for direct workers.
