Hundreds of youngsters from Vietnam and Laos gathered at the Vietnam Youth Academy in Hanoi, on September 6, to complete a painting honouring the friendship and special solidarity between the two countries.
The painting is completed as a joint effort from a total of 550 Vietnamese youngsters (in red) and their Lao friends (in blue).
Entitled ‘Vuon Hoa Huu Nghi’ (Flower Garden of Friendship), the artwork is 55 metres in length, representing the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam – Laos diplomatic ties (1962-2017), with 40 metres being covered with paintings to celebrate the 40th year of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty on Amity and Cooperation (1977-2017).
The creation of the painting is held under the framework of the Vietnam-Laos Youth Friendship Meeting 2017.
The fabric painting is created using acrylic paint.
The colourful painting features famous sites in Vietnam and Laos, dotted with white doves and bunches of flowers illustrating peace and the blossoming of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Youth from the two countries are excited to join in with the project despite the heat in Hanoi.
The event aims to bring Vietnamese and Lao youth closer together and promote the friendship and mutual understanding among them
According to the organising board, following completion, the painting will be displayed at the Vietnam Youth Museum as a vivid illustration of friendship between the Vietnamese and Lao youth, as well as the Vietnam – Laos special solidarity and cooperation.
