A wind farm among the crystal blue sky is becoming a familiar place to ‘check-in’ for young people when visiting the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu.
The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu, which boasts a 56km-long coastline and brisk wind, is an ideal destination for a wind power plant in Vietnam.
The once alluvial ground has now become a huge wind farm which generates clean electricity.
"Bac Lieu wind power plant generates as much as 300 million kWh for the national electricity grid, contributing to the country’s energy stabilisation, local economic development, while opening new investment opportunities," said Mr Nguyen Phu Nong, branch director of the Cong Ly Construction, Trading & Tourism Co., Ltd.
The wind farm is located in Vinh Trach Dong commune of Bac Lieu city, about 290km from HCM City.
It has a total 62 wind turbines. Each turbine tower is 80 metres high and has a diameter of four metres and weighs more than 200 tonnes.
Le Truong Hanh, Chairman of Vinh Trach Dong Commune People's Committee stated that the wind farm in Vinh Trach Dong commune has brought economic efficiency. It also lured crowds of visitors to the commune, which helps improve the local economy.
All the wind turbines of the farm are placed on the sea, creating a beautiful scene surprising visitors as if they are in ‘the country of the windmill’ – distant Netherlands.
Duong Gia Loc, a tourist from Soc Trang province, said the view is stunning and he has taken photos with the wind turbines at the background so that more people could see and visit the farm.
"This is like a pride of the southwestern region people," Loc said.
It can be said that the wind farm in Bac Lieu is a spectacular and strange tourist attraction, bringing new breath for those who are too familiar with sea tourism, while contributing to local economic development.-VNA
