Joint - venture companies in Viet Nam join hand for environmental protection and climate change response

On 22 August 2018, MONRE Vice Minister Le Cong Thanh attended the Signing Ceremony of Cooperation Agreement on Environmental Protection and Climate Change Response between MONRE and some joint-venture companies including Panasonic Vietnam Company Limited, Toyota Viet Nam Company, Viet Nam PL Communication Joint-Stock Company, Viet Nam Frieslandcampina Company Limited. The company leaders Mr. Matsushita Kazuhiro, Director General of Panasonic Vietnam Company Limited, Mr. Toru Kinoshita, Director General of Toyota Viet Nam Company, Mr. Arnoud van den Berg, Director General of Viet Nam Frieslandcampina Company Limited were present at the ceremony. The event was also attended by the signatory Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director General of MONRE Center of Natural Resouces and Environment Communication and relevant MONRE agencies’ representatives.

According to the signed agreements, the Panasonic Vietnam Company Limited and the Center will jointly implement the Panasonic Program “for a green Viet Nam” with main activities such as tree plantation, environmental classes, panasonic battery exchange, film making contest, combined education on environmental protection, etc. In adition, the Company will colaborate with MONRE in organization of some international environment related events including the World Environment Day, the World Ocean Day and other national level related ones.

The Toyota Viet Nam Company will cooperate with MONRE to implement the Program “Toyota joining hands for greening educational environment” with main activity of tree plantation in primary and high schools and other activities to prevent environmental pollution, particularly air pollution. The Viet Nam Frieslandcampina Company Limited will closely work with MONRE to organize biannual “Green Creativity Award”, establish “Green Creativity Fund”, implelement TV shows on Environmental Education and also jointly organize some international environment related events.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Minister Le Cong Thanh on behalf of the MONRE leaders highly appreciated the cooperation and contribution of the companies for efforts of environmental protection and climate change response in Viet Nam. The Vice Minister noted that these are meaningful cooperation programs which would positively contribute to raising environmental protection and climate change response awareness for Vietnamese people, particularly young people. In response, the Companies’ leaders committed to join hands with MONRE for the ongoing efforts to protect of the environment and respond to climate change.
