On the morning of November 5, Hue Monuments Conservation Centre and the International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) co-organized a press meeting on the 2018 Asia Pacific ICH NGO Conference.

This is the second time ICHCAP held the Asia Pacific ICH NGO Conference, following its first 2016 conference in Jeonju, Korea. With the theme “ICH NGOs toward Sustainable Development of Communities”, this year's conference attracted representatives of 35 organizations in the field of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) preservation from 16 different countries to attend and present their working papers.
The biggest goal of the conference is to share experience about NGOs’ operations in the region and find out suitable direction in the future to empower NGOs to involve in conserving ICHs in the region, with a special focus on quality and community education, as well as their relationship of these issues with preserving ICHs.

Dr. Phan Thanh Hai - Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Centre (Thua Thien Hue province) shared that the center’s cooperative efforts and collaboration with ICHCAP to hold this conference demonstrates the interest and determination of the Government and the province of Thua Thien Hue in joining hands with ICHCAP and countries in the region to conserve, preserve and promote ICHs for sustainable development goals. Choosing Hue city to host the 2018 Asia Pacific ICH NGO Conference is a very significant event to celebrate 15 years UNESCO recognized Court music - Vietnam’s Royal music. The province will be beneficial from this conference through accurate and objective reflections, and from that to make appropriate policies and directions for ICH sustainable development in the coming time, including the Court music.
