Update: 20/08/2018
(TITC)- On August 17, 2018, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) in coordination with Da Nang People's Committee organized a program to launch the movement of socialization of toilets for tourists at East Sea Park - Da Nang City in order inform the “Conform as home” model to tourism business, hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, households, shops, showrooms in the whole country.

In recent years, there have been good models such as "Comfort as home" in Da Nang and nearby provinces. This model has been implemented by localities and business in some districts of Da Nang, Hoi An and Hue. Up to now, about 630 establishments have been enjoyed, in which, 460 establishments in Da Nang, 100 establishments in Hue City, 70 establishments in Hoi An City. Especially, the project also attract the participation of some 3 and 4-star hotels.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ngo Hoai Chung, Vice Chairman of VNAT inform that: Viet Nam is ranked 6th among the 10 countries with the highest growth rate of tourists in the world by World Tourism Organization. Many Viet Nam tourism enterprises have been honored with world-class prestigious awards. But many tourists have not satisfied with the lack of public toilet or under standard toilets.

In 2015, Hai Chau District’s Business Association had an initiative to develop a project "Socializing community toilets in Hai Chau District, Da Nang City". The project quickly received the support of local authorities and businesses. The project has encouraged, hotels, restaurants, shopping centers and local houses to open to the people, including tourists to free use the toilet.

From the feasibility and effectiveness of the project and from the successful practice of Hai Chau District, VNAT found that this is a good model to overcome the shortage of toilets for tourists.

Under the support of Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, VNAT has developed a plan to replicate this model of socialized toilets, first of all in some key tourist areas.
