Green Sunday campaign launched in Khanh Hoa

Update: 06/05/2019
The Green Sunday campaign and a photo competition themed “Challenges for change” were launched in the central province of Khanh Hoa on May 5, attracting nearly 1,500 young people.

The events were held in response to the 2019 anti-plastic waste campaign launched by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) and the National Tourism Year 2019 themed “Nha Trang – Colour of the Sea”.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Secretary of the provincial HCYU chapter Bui Hoai Nam asked union chapters to promote communications activities to raise the awareness of environment protection and litter prevention among young people.

Later, thousands of youth unionists cleaned up the environment on Cai river, polluted and coastal areas in Nha Trang city, Xom Bong and Ho bridge pier areas in Vinh Tho and Phuong Sai wards, respectively.

The Green Sunday campaign is underway simultaneously in Cam Ranh, Van Ninh, Ninh Hoa and Cam Lam districts. In districts of Khanh Son, Khanh Vinh and Dien Khanh, youths cleaned up residential areas and dredged canals.

Meanwhile, the photo competition aimed to call for greater public involvement in voluntary activities. It will open for submission until June 1 with entries required to feature polluted areas before and after clean-up, which should be sent to the organising board via the email moitruongkhanhhoa2019@gmail.com.

The top 10 entries will be selected to enter the final round.
