Speaking at the event, Assistant to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pham Quang Hieu emphasised that the state of the environment has become an urgent issue which directly relates to every person on the planet.
As one of the five countries most vulnerable to climate change, including plastic pollution, Vietnam attaches special importance to addressing the issue and supports the joint effort of the international community in coping with climate change, he affirmed.
He stressed that France is one of the countries that are leading the way in the battle against climate change, and is also an important development partner of Vietnam in coping with the issue.
He commended the lessons and experiences shared by France for having helped Vietnam in building a green, clean and sustainable living environment.
Participants at the seminar discussed and gave opinions on the research outcomes of the French Institute of Research for Development (IRD) on Vietnam, the ‘Green Embassy’ project, and the project on assessing the air quality of the pedestrian area around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, among others.
They also exchanged their views on environmental protection and plastic pollution reduction as well as the actions and responsibilities of diplomats in resolving the problems.
