The move aims to satisfy the sight-seeing needs of domestic and foreign visitors, contributing to developing and increasing the attractiveness of tourism in the localities.

The PM assigned the Ministry of Transport to guide the provinces to carry out the pilot activities, carefully calculating the operational routes, the number of buses per route, the bus frequency, and bus terminal planning, in order to ensure traffic order and safety. The Government leader also urged the prompt review of the pilot activities, which will serve as part of the foundation for the building of the Law on Road Traffic (amended).

With the addition of Binh Thuan and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, there will be a total of six localities in Vietnam to have piloted open-top double-decker tour bus services, alongside Da Nang city (2017), Hanoi (2018), Quang Ninh province (2019) and Ho Chi Minh City (early 2020).

Open-top double-decker bus is a flexible and convenient type of tourism service combining transportation and visiting a series of service-tourism products of localities, thus contributing to promoting the image of local tourism to visitors.

With this new type of transportation, passengers on board can enjoy the street landscapes from above, thus gaining new perspectives and new experiences.
