Many visitors to the ancient city of Hue have said that without their experiences in Chuon Lagoon (also known as Cau Hai lagoon), they feel that they have not truly been in Hue.
Visitors will have exciting experiences in Chuon lagoon
In the lagoon, visitors will have the chance to enjoy extremely interesting experiences as floating on a boat across a beautiful lagoon system to watching the dawn in the early morning or sunset in the early evening
Located in Phu An commune, Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province, Chuon lagoon is about 8 kilometres from Hue city. The lagoon seems to bring travellers into a different world with its scenes of peaceful rivers and flowing waters. Considered a gift that nature has bestowed to Hue, the Chuon lagoon is a "delicious food" for visitors with its specialty of boats carrying tourists traveling down-river to enjoy the typical food and daily activities of local fishermen.
"If anyone ever went to Myanmar to see the beautiful scenery of Inle Lake, when they come to the Chuon lagoon, they will be sure the beautiful scene here is not inferior!”, according to visitors sitting on the boats along the lagoon as sunset falls. In the past, people came here to admire the scenery and take photos. However, locals later built several bamboo floating houses to serve visitors. The Chuon lagoon then became a destination that could be seen as atypical during the process of tourism development in the ancient capital.
Coming to the wharf, visitors have many choices between a variety of unforgettable experiences such as joining with local fishermen to catch fish, shopping on the lagoon, sleeping in the bamboo floating houses, and contemplating the “thousand stars” above, a truly romantic picture.
In addition to the beautiful landscapes, the Chuon lagoon is also famous for many types of aquatic products and seafood such as fish, shrimps and crabs, with many unique flavours. Fisherman Nguyen Tien Dung, one of the initiators of community-based tourism in Chuon lagoon said that many visitors are thrilled by the beautiful scenery here. Dung was born and grew up on the lagoon and has made his living thanks to shrimp and fish there; therefore, thus he isvery attached to the locality. That was also the reason why he and other local people launched popular tourism services for tourists to enjoy the many rustic experiences on offer.
