A community-owned and operated ecotourism association in Phuc Trach Commune, adjacent to World Natural Heritage Site Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.
Households living at the doorstep of the National Park provide ecotourism services to foreign and domestic tourists, offering the opportunity to homestay in traditional wooden homes, provide biking, kayaking and trekking services.
Situated on a peanut and maize farm in central Quang Binh province, Rustic ChayLap stands beneath the towering limestone cliffs which punctuate the beautiful but seldom visited World Natural Heritage Site of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.
While 80 percent of Vietnamese live in the countryside, visitors to Vietnam are rarely given the opportunity to peak beneath the veil of this age-old culture. It is our goal to set a benchmark in ecotourism here that can be replicated throughout the region. In order to do this, we need to continue to show our guests how most Vietnamese actually live, far removed from the tourist hot spots which dot the country.
The beautiful natural surroundings notwithstanding, it’s not the surroundings nor the brick and mortar of villages which make up communities. It’s the people.
Here in Chay Lap, it is important to us that you feel welcomed and included. We do this by offering true Central Vietnamese hospitality. This is a necessity if we wish to learn as much from you as we hope you learn from us.
By staying with Chay Lap, guests directly support conservation of an important World Natural Heritage Site, while driving employment opportunities and income for the families of Chap Lay Village and its surrounding areas. Quang Binh, the province housing Chay Lap and the park, is one of the country’s most impoverished. Unfortunately, until now there have been few high value economic options open to residents other than the illegal exploitation of the forest for predominantly timber and animals. Rustic Chay Lap gives communities options.
Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park’s sublime limestone cliffs, lush jungle, outstanding cave and grotto systems and sparkling turquoise rivers make up your front yard while staying at Rustic Chay Lap. Cycling through the park to hear the call of the wild and the roar of your hamstrings as you either take your time or destroy yourself and your big-city living on the Ho Chi Minh Road West branch.
