On December 8, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) organized ceremony to present certificates of the sustainable tourism Green Lotus Label 2012 to 21 accommodations in Viet Nam.
The event attracted the participation of Director General of VNAT Nguyen Van Tuan, Director General of Science, Technology and Environment Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Le Duc Chuong, Deputy Director of Hotel Department Le Mai Khanh, Chairwomen of Viet Nam Hotel Association Do Hong Xoan and representatives of relevant departments, tourist accommodations.
The 21 accommodations receiving Green Lotus Label 2012 certificates (1,3,4,5 green-lotus level) have met criteria on environmental protection and sustainable development, made efforts to protect environment including organizing training courses, producing publications, setting up environment websites to disseminate information and requirement applied to hotel services. The accommodations have applied new technology, used alternative energies in order to minimize negative impacts on the environment.
These certificated accommodations are expected to be pioneers in environmental protection movement and sustainable tourism development.
