Education for Sustainable Development Initiative

Update: 28/08/2013
Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) held a consultation meeting for Education for Sustainable Development Initiative in the city of Hue.

The initiative is part of a global agreement between UNESCO and Samsung that aims at enhancing the education system’s responses to challenges to sustainable development.

Vietnam is the first country to benefit from this agreement. Ms. Katherine Muller-Marin, UNESCO Representative Office in Vietnam, said that the project’s general objectives are to support Vietnam to build a learning society which is capable to adapt and enhance resilience of the community and the education system before the natural disaster, climate change and loss of biodiversity.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education and Training has also developed tools for assessment of disaster risks and threat in five schools in the province of Thua Thien-Hue.
