Nationwide activities organized in response to World Environment Day 2018

(TITC) – In response to World Environment Day (June 5), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in collaboration with relevant ministries, state agencies, authorities of cities and provinces will organize “Action Month for the Environment”.

According to the plan, Binh Dinh Province was chosen as the venue for the launching ceremony of  “Action Month for the Environment” and announcing winners of the fourth Natural resource and Environment journalism contest due on everning of June 4, 2018.

On the occasion, many activities will be organized including campaign on ‘Say no to disposable products’, campaigns on environmental sanitation; waste and solid waste collection; clearance and dredging of canals, ponds, lakes; collecting and recycling plastic waste, plastic bags at markets, supermarkets, trade centers, residential areas ... in order to encourage consumers to minimize the use of plastic products and plastic bags as well as raise awareness of community on environment.

MONRE will also co-organize such events as launching program of coordinated monitoring of the implementation of policies and legislation on resource exploitation, environmental protection and response to climate change in the Central and Highlands on June 5; forum on "Strengthening press activities in management, use of natural resources, environmental protection and response to climate change" on June 4 in Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh.

Launched by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and organized in Viet Nam since 1982, World Environment Day  has become a nationwide movement, contributing to the improvement of awareness of environment and biodiversity protection, sustainable development and adaptation to climate change.

Beat plastic pollution’, the theme for World Environment Day 2018, is a call to combat plastic pollution around the world.
