Opening more non-stop international routes from city to destinations worldwide

Update: 31/10/2018
Many non-stop international air routes from the Da Nang International Airport to destinations around the world have been operated as soon as the expansion of the Da Nang Airport has been completed. This has made the travel of air passengers more convenient and helped the city record a notable increase in tourist arrivals .

There are now a total of 15 scheduled and 17 charter direct international air routes into Da Nang from such foreign countries as China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, the UK, Australia and Malaysia.

According to a spokesperson for the municipal Tourism Promotion Centre, recent months have seen a significant rise in the number of international visitor arrivals to the city.

Between January and September, Da Nang hosted 6.5 million visitors in total, up 27.7% compared with the same period last year. Of this, foreign arrivals jumped by 40% to reach about 2.4 million, whilst domestic arrivals climbed by 21.5% to hit around 4.1 million.

During that period, the number of air passengers to the city reached an estimated over 1.7 million, an increase of 45.7% against last year.

Currently, Da Nang is ranking 5th in attracting international visitor arrivals after Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Quang Ninh, and Quang Nam.

This positive sign has been mainly attributed to the increasing number of non-stop international air routes from/to the city. This has brought a large number of international visitor arrivals to the city during the first half of this year.

Over a six-month period, the city welcomed a total of over 801,000 South Korean nationals, more than 368,000 Chinese and 76,400 Japanese visitors. In addition, others came from the USA, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Mr Doan Hai Dang, the Director of the city’s branch of Vietravel, said the operation of non-stop flights has helped international air passengers enjoy services at reasonable prices, save a lot of time, and reduce their transit costs.

Moreover, the launch of these direct international air routes has facilitated local citizens to travel abroad, as well as created more favorable conditions for local travel agencies to exploit this potential customer market.

Therefore, the municipal Department of Tourism has promoted the opening of more non-stop international air routes between Da Nang and such potential markets as Australia, India, and Middle Eastern, North American and Western European countries in the coming time.

Especially, new non-stop international air routes connecting Da Nang with China’s Guangzhou and Japan’s Osaka will open in late October, whilst first non-stop flights between Da Nang and Quatar’s Doha will take off in late December.

Apart from opening more direct international air routes to destinations worldwide, the city will organise tourism promotion activities at these foreign countries in order to advertise the beautiful images and the city’s tourism sector to their citizens.
