Vietnam nominated for 11 categories in World Travel Awards 2020

Vietnam has made the shortlist for up to 11 categories in the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) 2020.

Accordingly, the country has been listed amongst the nominees in the Asia region as the Leading Culinary Destination, Leading Cultural Destination, Leading Destination, Leading Heritage Destination, Leading Nature Destination, Leading River Cruise Destination, Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination and Leading Youth Travel Destination.

The capital city Hanoi was shortlisted as Asia’s Leading City Break Destination while the ancient city of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam was chosen to be in the race for Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination.

In addition, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism was in the running for Asia's Leading Tourist Board.

The WTA is calling on industry professionals and consumers worldwide to vote for the finest travel and tourism brands across the world in all seven regions of Africa, Asia, Europe, Indian Ocean, North America, Middle East and Oceania.

In order to cast their vote for Vietnam, audiences can access https://www.worldtravelawards.com/nominees/2020/asia. The vote will close on September 24.

The WTA was launched in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in the travel and tourism industry. Heralded as the "travel industry's equivalent of the Oscars" by The Wall Street Journal, the awards are issued based on votes by the public and travel professionals from across the globe.

Previously, the 26th World Travel Awards for Asia and Oceania chosen Vietnam as “Asia’s Leading Culinary Destination” at a ceremony held in October 2019 in Kien Giang Province.

Vietnam was also named Asia’s Leading Destination, and Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination, while the ancient town of Hoi An won the title of Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination.

The country was then honoured as a World Leading Heritage Destination 2019 by the WTA at an awards ceremony in November in Oman.
